This is Taff/LuLu

Hey Mary Ellen -

Just wanted to check in. About a month ago, we adopted Taff (now renamed Lulu), and we've absolutely fallen in love with her. She's a fantastic dog, with amazing temperament and great humor. We were actually just curious about her history - do you know if she was found as a stray? Or was she given up by a former family? She knows how to sit perfectly and is very obedient going to the bathroom outside, so obviously she once had a home. But a few other characteristics, like seeking safety under cars when she's nervous, make me wonder if she had a period of being a stray.

Just curious!

Sadly this did not come with a photograph

Thank you to each of you for the efforts to bring Tara (formerly known as Stony) to me.

She is just about the perfect dog.

Shortly after we picked her up, my sister and I stopped at Panera for an iced tea and to give her a few minutes to sit in the fresh air with us. A two year old little girl came over to say Hi. Stony (as she was known then) sat next to the little girl and laid her head on the girl's shoulder as she was petted. Who knew an Aussie could behave like that? Certainly not my previous two that all considered excellently behaved dogs!

On the way home we stopped at the nursing home where my Dad is recuperating from an illness. Stony showed no fear of wheelchairs or walkers. And walked up to people and gently sat next to them to be petted at every opportunity. She brought tears to our eyes when we went to the room next door to visit my Dad's friend, who is bed bound at the moment. Stony put one paw on the side of the bed and slipped her muzzle under the man's hand to be petted. No jumping on the bed - just an ever so gentle suggestion that petting might be in order.

No question she will be a therapy dog.

Sunday afternoon we went out to visit my Dad's girlfriend's 10 month old German Shepherd. (I must admit I was a bit nervous as Kaiser is a bit rambunctious). Tara ( as she is now known) quickly "explained the rules of play to Kaiser in a gentle but firm manner. They ran and jumped and had a ball together.

In the park, Tara has ventured into the brook and had quite a fun time splashing around. She even tried to introduce herself to one of the mallards in the pond.

She is friendly to everyone but slightly hesitates when men approach her. However, if they let her come up to them she is fine.

(BTW - she is named Tara for several reasons - Tara is the Buddhist Goddess of Peace (and is believed to have enlightenment) which my Tara certainly demonstrates. The name ties to my previous two dogs Scarlett (whose brother was Rhett) and Miss Melanie (for you GWTW fans). It also ties to my Irish heritage.thank you so much for the wonderful gift of Tara.

Fondly, Carole Wilson Strickroth

Subject: 1 yr has past

Hi Linda,

Just wanted to take a minute and thank you again for your help and the for work that you do. We adopted our black lab/pit mix from you and Crossing Paths a little over a year ago and picked him up from your transport a year ago today. We couldn't be happier! Missle fits perfectly with our family, and while it was a lot of work at first, he is now a fabulous (though still crazily energetic) family member. After taking in Missle we took in a cousins Central Asain Shepard she could no longer keep and went on to adopt another lab/pit mix. The 3 boys get along fabulously and Missle has claimed the throne. He keeps the watchful eye on all the boys...4 legged and 2. Life without our pups is unimaginable. They're a lot of work..but they're a lot of love in return. Thank you again for all that you do for these animals who all deserve a second chance.

Sincerely,

Jackie
Dear Pat...................well, here he is!!!!! We picked him up on May 21st..(1st two pictures are his first days with us...64 lbs) The next pictures are him presently at 74 lbs).................Needless to say, he has us wrapped around his long tail!!! He is just becoming house trained!!!! I had to take up my area rugs because he was going on them, and rather him being scolded from us, it was easier just to remove them............I am getting use to not having them and now will wait until the winter to put them back! Bud put a long rope from our deck so he can do his business......but before that he was going all over the lawn and my neighbors.........now its much easier Bud use to take such pride in our lawn, but now has the attitude (who cares, as long as we water where he goes, you can see from the pictures, that really works!).............Rusty sleeps in his crate at night and during the night he wines to get out, Bud walks him and of course then brings him in our bed (Rusty is really smart, because its getting earlier and earlier and now its 2:30 am and he is in our bed!! When ever he is close to us, he always has to have a paw on us and then falls asleep. He is just a sweetheart.....he barks only when he thinks he should and that is not often................he loves the water and has a swim at least 2 times a day and then gets a shower in our outdoor shower, which he loves and stays so still!!! Everyone loves him and even the Fed Ex guy leaves him a dog biscuit on our package when he delivers it!! We have rented a small cabin in Maine in the beginning of Sept. that is right on a lake and we plan to take him.........of course, I won't be able to go antiquing that much!!! Every morning Bud drives him to a back of a school and lets him run! He will be 10 months at the end of this month!! He is up to snuff with his shots and he is so good when the Vet cuts his nails (thats unbelievable!) My Grandson got me a magnet plaque with a big paw mark and it says "WHO RESUED WHO?" FOR THE BACK OF MY CAR.. I got Bud one for Father's day from Rusty!! Well, Pat I just wanted you to see how Rusty has grown, you are often in my thoughts and we appreciate everything you have done..........Bud says, " a house is not a home without a dog!" Fondly, Sandie
