This wonderful happy ending couldn't have come at a better time. This dog was so sad and depressed in the shelter and I spent many hours with her head on my lap, just petting her. Then she went to Donna's and got lots of attention and then she went to this wonderful forever home. What a great update!!!!!

Rescuing ONE dog may not change the world BUT
for that ONE dog, the whole world will change!

STOP THE SENSELESS KILLING OF DOGS/CATS! GET YOUR
PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED! ADOPT A SHELTER PET!

Hi ladies,

I hope that this email finds you both well. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since we adopted Sasha. Time flies by so quickly. I wanted to send you both a few pictures that we took on recent hike with Sasha as well as give you an update.

Sasha is doing really well. She and my younger cat have bonded and Sasha can frequently be seen cleaning his ears and vice versa. She's a happy girl who is always full of energy. She made it through the winter just fine but was confused at the sight of snow at first. Once she was used to it, she loved to play in it. Although she made due in the winter, Sasha is most definitely a Southern girl at heart. She adores the sunshine and loves to just sit outside and soak in some rays. She runs circles around our yard on a daily basis and loves to scratch her back on a bone that we gave her a while back. Her favorite activities are walks (of course), going on jogs with my husband, hiking, being brushed, and belly rubs. She really is a doll. Occasionally, when she gets super excited, she likes to "sing" to me. I call it that because it's the basset hound in her. It's almost a howl but it sounds like she's trying to talk to me and sing to me at the same time. She's also a klutz and fits into the family perfectly ;-). Those big paws are hard for her to lift up some times!

My mother-in-law has fallen in love with Sasha as much as we have. Whenever she comes over, Sasha just loses it with excitement. She wiggles all over the place until my mother-in-law sits on the ground with her and then attacks her with kisses. It's too funny.

Thank you both for bringing her into our lives. She's very well adjusted and content with us. She brings alot to our family and I can't imagine life without her.

Thanks again,

Melissa Perreault

THIS IS MISS DAISY

Daisy went to the vet last night. The vet said she is very healthy and that you did an amazing job pulling her through the parvo, she's a very lucky girl. She weighed 14.3 pounds and we go back again on July 6. I have them vaccinated for some other diseases because they are near pond water.

She is getting along great with our other dog Max. She has not had a single accident in the house, she even wakes me up in the middle of the night when she has to go. She comes when called, and is sitting and laying down for treats. She really is the perfect little puppy. I can't say thank you enough! You have brought our home so much joy!!

Over the weekend I will post some pictures and video onto your website. With all of the excitement I forgot to get pictures before we left your home; which was absolutely breathe taking. Take care and if you ever need anything please do not hesitate to ask!!

HEY YOU PEOPLE! DID YOU FORGET I'M A SOUTHERN DOG! GO SLOW ON THE SNOW!

I've been meaning to email you a Calvin update for quite some time now. He is doing super! He is still as sweet as can be. He's traveled to PA with us to visit Karl's parents and did pretty well in the car. We also saw how he interacted with a baby for the first time. His parents' neighbors have a 4 and a 1 year old and they stopped by to see the pups. Calvin just adored the baby and kept kissing her and the baby loved it just as much.

I also took him down to southern VA to visit my folks. It was a bit long for him in the car, but he was pretty good for most of the way (with lots of play breaks). My folks loved him, too.

Here are a couple of photos of him. We ended up getting a few inches of snow on Mother's Day (yes - Mother's Day!) and Calvin loved it. You can see a few photos of him playing in it. So he should have blast up here this coming winter with all the snow we usually get. Also a few photos show him in his favorite chair for napping and watching for birds, squirrels, and chipmunks out the window. MayDay (his big sis) and he are getting along quite well now. You can see how they snuggle up with each other at nap time.

Hope you and your family and all the pups are doing well.

WARNING DOG PARTY! (wonder which one is Rex...I think the big black one.

Hi Tina,
Just an update. Rex (the puppy formerly known as "Bailey") is doing great.
He is getting along well with everyone. He is smart and sweet! Last
weekend, we went up to our cabin and took our dogs, plus Wendy's brother's
dogs. Everyone had a great time. Here are some pictures.
Take care ,
Dave

OK WHO NAMED THIS DOG BUGS? AND WHERE'S THE REST OF HIS LEGS?

Hello Tina!

I know its been awhile since we have communicated. My email account from my former employer 'Sungard' has been terminated and all my email contacts were lost.

Duke (formerly known as Bugs) is doing great. He really enjoys his belly rubs and rolls onto his back for one any chance he gets. Now that my kids are back from school for the summer, he gets even more attention than before. As I type this email, he is lying on his back on the family room couch, basking in the A/C. Sometimes
his Alabama comes out as he also like to just sit in the sun on the back porch.

He enjoys having an egg mixed in with his breakfast once a week and is no stranger to the occasional slice of bacon being crumbled up into the mix as well.
He has filled out but is not overweight as , weather permitting, he gets his 2 to 3 walks every day.

We cannot put into words the joy he brings us. He is the most loving little mutt we've met and is usually the center of attention whenever we take him out.. Everyone smiles when they see him.

I've attached a couple of photos for you .

Again, its good to hear from you.

Regards,

John Weichenrieder

This is SADIE! When Sadie's name was Chloe She looked like a baby bear..

Hello,

We had worked with Save a Pet last year and they helped us to adopt a dog from the Crossing Paths shelter in Alabama. Yesterday was exactly a year that we had adopted our dog Sadie. It feels like yesterday that we met the transport in the parking lot and Sadie came out of the van, latched onto me and peed on me.. I think she was telling us that I was her mom! :) Her name was Chloe when we adopted her but needed to change it because our other dog's name is Chloe. :) When Sadie came to us she was a young puppy, 12lbs and very unsure of the world around her. Sadie is now a healthy 38 lbs and is just about a year and 4 months old. She loves running, playing with her friends and getting a belly rub from every person that she meets! Everyone always stops us and tells us how beautiful and sweet she is.

I just wanted to send along a picture of her now and let you know that we are so happy and blessed to have her in our lives. I wanted to thank you all for the work you do in helping to save these animals who deserve a loving, forever home.

Gratefully,
Emma, Frankie and Sadie :)

(p.s. I sent along her puppy picture that you all had sent to us so that you can see how much she has grown!)

One more sweet story

The following is an email exchange between rescuers and the adoption home of Russ.

Mary Ellen,
Not sure if you remember my Russ who escaped all the time and ended up in my house but the lady who adopted him, got him for her husband and they are best friends. The pictures are adorable. As you can see by the emails, it was definitely a happy ending. Start at the bottom and work your way up.
Thanks
Robin

Hi Rita!!! Oh Lord, when I see Russ's little face I vividly remember kissing that long nose and holding him. Of the more than 200 foster dogs I have had and gotten adopted out, Russ was one of my favorites, first by escaping from the kennel constantly so he ended up in my house and then it was all over for my heart! We spent so much time together that I got attached. I couldn't have wished for a better home for him than with your husband and your family. I know he has the perfect life and I am so happy for that. This little guy would have been euthanized in 24 hrs if we hadn't gotten him out and look where he is now.....just amazing. Thanks so much again for opening up your hearts and taking a chance on a sight-unseen rescue dog!!!! You are the angels for these dogs.

Hugs
Robin
Dear Robin:
Russ met the family big time over the holidays, being taken to a family Christmas Eve Dinner celebration one evening and Christmas Day with another family member the next day. I am happy to report he was a huge success at both affairs. He fit in beautifully, and really seemed to enjoy the company and the attention. Everyone fell in love with him!
Yes, we got lots of snow, and Russ seems to really enjoy the snow, my husband reports. He loves to run around in it until he is exhausted. Sadly, we got so much rain Christmas Day and the next, that the snow is all gone! I am happy the snow is gone, it is tough walking 3 dogs in the city when you are hemmed in by giant snow mountains.
Thank you again for everything that you do -- you are these animals saviors.
Happy New Year!
Rita
